Can You Continue to Play Stardew Valley After Evaluation
The ever-growing farming simulator, Stardew Valley, has become a fan-favorite game for a wide number of reasons. The game is calming and fun, has an excellent soundtrack, and can take a player to the very farm they choose, and can make whatever they want out of the farm their grandfather has left for them.
There is an ever-growing list of things to do on the farm and within the town of Stardew Valley itself. Players can interact and develop friendships and relationships with the townspeople, they can go adventuring in the mines and the dessert, and just so much more. Stardew Valley isn't so much of a commitment to an expansive game, but every player is sure to fall in love with the game and play it to their hearts' content.
10/10 Is There An End? No, As There Continues To Be Updates
One of the biggest questions in Stardew Valley is whether there is actually an end to the game or not. And the answer is: there isn't one.
After three years, the player's grandfather appears to the player in a dream sequence to discuss the player's time at the farm and how they have adapted to living to farm life. Depending on how much the player has done (especially in the Community Center), will prompt a couple of different responses, one of which implies that the player has done a lot on the farm and that they have reached their goal. But considering the game is still receiving updates, there is still no official end to the game just yet.
9/10 Is It Multiplayer? Yes, And Split-Screen Co-Op Is On The Way As Well
One of the cool things about the game is that there is a multi-player system for a player to be in-game with up to four friends. In the multiplayer version of the game, the players all share the main farm they choose to live on, each having their own cabin to themselves to upgrade as they please.
One of the long-standing issues with the multiplayer system was that players also shared a money pool. So if one person messed up and were found outside of their house by 2 AM, the money would be taken from everyone. However, the game fixed that issue and now players have the choice when creating the multiplayer world if they would like to start with money shared or separated. It was also recently announced that there will be split-screen co-op in the 1.5 update.
8/10 Is There Cross-Platform Play? No, And It Seems Unlikely There Ever Will Be
Unfortunately, this game is not cross-platform. Players on PC can play with other players on PC, PlayStation can be with PlayStation, and Xbox can be with Xbox, but they cannot cross over beyond that.
The creator has said that it is likely there will never be a cross-platform update, but considering how many people want cross-play, it still isn't out of the question. The game is also available for single-player on iOS and Android mobile devices.
7/10 How Far Can You Take Interactions With Villagers? You Can Eventually Marry One
Unlike many farm simulator games, the villagers have pretty deep connections to the player. In games such as Animal Crossing, the player gets to befriend and talk to all the villagers they have. But in Stardew Valley, the player gets to go one step beyond that.
The game is based on a "hearts" system: The more the player speaks to the NPCs and gets them gifts they like (especially on their birthday) grants the players more hearts. Players become closer and closer to the villagers as they unlock different heart events to learn more about them. Some of the NPCs can even be marriage candidates as the players can get into relationships with the villagers.
6/10 What Can Happen After You Marry A Villager? You Can Have Children Together
A number of things can happen once a player reaches ten hearts with any of the villagers who are able to be married. These villagers (often called the Bachelors and Bachelorettes) typically have a big heart event around the tenth heart that establishes that the bachelor or bachelorette has feelings for you.
After the event, the player can purchase a Bouquet from Pierre's General Store with which the player can ask the villager to become their boyfriend or girlfriend, and if the player has all ten hearts, the NPC will say yes. The two will begin to date and after this, the player can purchase a Mermaid's Pendant on any rainy day in order to ask the character to marry and move in with them. After this, the player and their new spouse will be able to reach up to 14 hearts and eventually have children if they upgrade their house.
5/10 Are You Locked Into Romantic Relationships? No, You Can Have Both Friendly Break-Ups And Bitter Divorces
Like in real life, Stardew Valley gives players the choice of breaking up with their significant other or divorcing them if they get married. A player might choose to do this if they want to explore other relationships in the game or if they simply get bored with their partners. Players can purchase a Bouquet (typically used to ask NPCs out) and then burn it in a furnace to create the Wilted Bouquet.
Once the player gives the damaged flowers to their S.O., the relationship immediately ends and the hearts drop down to five. The player is still able to speak to the NPC and give them gifts, unlike divorces. Divorces, however, will create some pretty nasty tension between the player and NPC. The character will have angry and hurt dialogue about their failed marriage and will be unable to grow friendship hearts or receive gifts.
4/10 Can You Undo Mistakes? Yes, Both By Cheating The Save System And By Officially Undoing Them In The Witch's Hut
Stardew Valley is kind of like a Bob Ross painting. It is totally peaceful and forgiving. All of the "happy little accidents" are easily reversible if the player chooses. For starters, the game only saves once the player goes to sleep at night. So if a player really messes up, they can simply quit the game before going to bed, which will prompt them to replay the day.
Stardew Valley also has a ton of features, mostly in the late game, that can reverse events if a player gets bored. In the Witch's Hut, a player can turn any children into little doves that fly away and erase the memories of any ex-spouse so that they may work on collecting new hearts with them and start the relationship over.
3/10 How Many Farms Are There To Choose From? Five, Each Accommodating A Different Farming/Playing Style
There are five farms to choose from, and one larger multiplayer map. The different farms each have different maps to accommodate that map's needs.
There is the standard farm that is ideal for farming and animals. The Riverland farm is filled with small streams of water, perfect for fishing but has the downside of not having much space for farming. The Forest farm is excellent for foraging with all of the extra bushes and areas. The Hill-top farm is ideal for those who like mining, as a number of stones spawn on the land. And finally, the Wilderness farm is great for people who enjoy combat as monsters spawn after nightfall on the farm and has the unique Wilderness Golem. The Multiplayer farm (also called Four Corners Farm) has a little bit of all of the farms within each corner of the map.
2/10 Is The Game Still Updating? Yes, And A New Update Is Coming Very Soon
The creator of the game, Eric Barone, is constantly working to continuously update the game. The next update, 1.5, is likely to come out over the next few weeks. Barone announced new updates on his Twitter account, @ConcernedApe, and keeps up with the community through his platform.
The game seems to get some pretty major updates nearly every time that keeps adding new and amazing content to the game so that the little farm in Stardew Valley continues to expand.
1/10 Is It Possible To Literally See And "Do" Absolutely Everything In The Game? Not Really, As It's Theoretically Limitless
It is very likely that players will never really finish the game as there always seems to be new things for someone to do. Each quest takes a long time to complete and usually opens a door to a new one right after. The game also adds new NPCs in every so often, so meeting new characters and attempting to collect hearts with them adds something for the players to always work on.
The game is pretty much never-ending and as long as the updates continue as planned, it seems like there never truly will be an end in sight.
